Also, thank you to Mrs. DeGuise, Mrs. Toffolo, Mrs. Shepherd, and Mrs. Zaumseil for helping coach our runners. You did a great job and we appreciate you. Also thanks to Mrs. Snyder for coming to help with the run on Saturday! Thank you to all of our sponsors who helped our students earn their brand new shoes.
We look forward to next year and hope to see many of you students out with us!

Students in the Jonesville GSRP program had a great last week. They had fun chasing bubbles, drawing with sidewalk chalk, finishing a few experiments, and had a great time enjoying an outdoor adventure day complete with a bounce house! This was a great group of kids and the GSRP staff will miss them. We now look forward to accepting students for the 2023-2024 school year. If you know someone who has a child that will be 4 years old by September 1, 2023 that has not filled out an interest form, have them visit www.greatstarthillsdale.com to start the process.

Spreading some cheer from Williams Elementary to Jonesville Middle School! Mrs. Nichols' "Comets in Action" class visiting Mrs. Bolz-Sweebe's 4th grade class to make May Day baskets to help sweeten someone's day!

Last night, the City of Jonesville awarded citizen of the year to three former Jonesville School alum: Dr. Leising, former teacher and current volunteer at WES, and Hayden James and Carson Laney who are 2020 graduates. Their stories of gratitude and service was a model of what the award is about. Though I did not have the pleasure of knowing the two graduates, it was clear the reason they were awarded youth citizens of the year. Congratulations and Go Comets!

Spring Book Fair!

From Williams Elementary School:
Thank you to the 40+ volunteers who helped to make Project R.E.D. (Rural Education Day) a huge success! All 4th grade students went to the fairgrounds last Thursday for this amazing experience.

Congratulations to our March Student of the Month recipients!
These students were nominated by a staff member for being respectful. This quality is something that will help them throughout their lifetime. We are so proud of them!

April lunch calendar!

We want to give a huge thanks to Johnathan Rand, Author of the Michigan Chillers Series and the American Chillers Series for coming in and speaking with our students today. He talked about why reading and writing is so important and how he became an author and the process of becoming an author. The kids had a great time listening to him!

From Williams Elementary School:
Students in the Fifth Grade S.T.E.M. Club worked with Mrs. Warner and Dr. Leising and recently completed their Michigan bird houses after studying their habitats and creating a natural nesting structure.
Next up, investigating space and creating a model ROCKET!

We have been overwhelmed with shed requests!! The JCS community is awesome!! Thanks to so many of you who have expressed interest in supporting our Trades classes. At this time we have more than 20 requests for sheds!! I wish we had the time to build them all. Hopefully, you will have more opportunities to support our program. Our students are excited to build stuff. Next year we hope to have more students who want to do that. But at this time we are at our limit (and then some). The pricing comes down to materials and discussions with the client on what they feels is a fair price. Thanks! Go Comets!

There is still time to set up an appointment for tomorrow or Friday! Give us a call to get signed up! We are so excited to see our future Comets the next couple of days!
