Comet families! As you know, students are required to wear masks on school buses as they are deemed public transportation. We have been providing masks for our students who have forgotten their’s but it really should be in case of an emergency. In the last two weeks, we have gone through over a thousand masks which is more than we did since the beginning of the school year. Please make sure your student has a mask so we are only handing them out in case of emergencies. Thank you

Jonesville Varsity Cross Country at Concord:
The Jonesville girls and boys cross country teams competed in the second Big Eight jamboree of the year.
Girls Results: The comet ladies won their second Big Eight Jamboree of the year and look to defend their Big Eight title from 2020.
The comets placed four runners in the top 10 on the day and were able to beat second place Quincy by four points.

Boys Results: The Jonesville boys placed 3rd out of the Big Eight teams on the day behind Concord and Bronson.

Ms. Hackworth’s 1st grade class won a Fun Friday for our September PBIS classroom acknowledgment. They got to go outside and run a fun obstacle course!

We had the honor of celebrating our daytime custodian today as National Custodians Day is October 2nd.
Mr. Jeff does an amazing job for our staff and students during the day and we are so very blessed to have him in our building. Equally important are our evening custodians, Shelley, Ethan, and Trayh. Without them, we'd be a mess!
Students in Ms. Walker's 5th grade classroom explored how time was first measured using light and shadows. They created their own sundials and used flashlights to see how shadows could be used to tell the time of day.
Students in Mrs. Nichols' 3rd grade classroom recently participated in a "Noun Scoot". Students "scooted" to different areas of the cafeteria and identified all of the nouns in sentences.
Jonesville Homecoming is October 8th and Williams Elementary students can participate in dress up days to celebrate!

Mrs. Barrett's 1st grade classroom recently received their first package from around the world. It was sent from Nebraska. They were able to study some maps, look at various postcards, read a nice letter about all the things Nebraska has to offer and then enjoy some delicious popcorn from the Cornhusker State!
Constitution Day, recognized on September 17th each year, is an important education event for schools across our great country. Mrs. Judy Warner's 5th graders constructed an extraordinary giant U.S. Flag from paper to recognize the event. They had been learning about the Pledge of Allegiance and used this project as an opportunity to express what the Flag means to each of them. Each student wrote their statement directly on the Flag for all to read. They also each received their own personal copy of the book "What is the U.S. Constitution?" and then read it as a class. The class celebrated the day with a red-white-blue treat, personal flags, presidential and Pledge of Allegiance book marks, and patriotic pins that were worn by all. The Flag project is slated to be hung in the 5th Grade hallway in the days ahead for all to see. The final culminating project will be to create a self-published book to include their writings on what the Flag means to them. Students will sign up for a job in the publishing process to include all members of the class.
To remind us of those sunny days, last Friday Mrs. Snyder's 3rd grade class did some math outside working with rounding to the nearest 10. The students could draw large number lines to help them solve the problem if they needed to. They answered the problem on their own first and then were to justify their answer to their partner. The questions had multiple correct answers. For example, when rounding to the nearest 10 the answer is 40, what number could it be?
