This week students in Mrs. Snyder's 3rd grade classroom combined a rounding hill, number line, and physical 'ball' rolling down a hill all together to investigate rounding (see picture). One of the students suggested they make the number line into an actual hill to help the 'ball' roll down the hill. They talked about benchmark numbers, tick marks, midpoints, and intervals. They will be continuing to talk about this and moving away from the rounding hill to just using a number line. Students will be rounding to the nearest 10 with 3 digit and 4 digit numbers and then they will be rounding to the nearest 100.

Williams Elementary Families, Tomorrow is the big day! We are super excited to see the smiling faces of our students. Please review the map for our drop-off and pick-up locations. (These are the same as last year.) If you have more than one child at Williams, you only need to make one stop to drop off your children or pick-them up. We ask that you go by the location used for your youngest child.

We are setting scheduled time slots to reduced the number of people in the building at one time. If you have not been contacted by a teacher and are not contacted by Tuesday, please contact the school office. We also wanted to let everyone know that the pink Student Information forms will be given to you at the Open House. From Williams Elementary School: Students in Mrs. Mandrelle's class recently explored Michigan fossils. They tried to figure out how Michigan may have looked 300-400 million years ago. The students thought it was "cool they were studying stuff older than the dinosaurs".
