Tomorrow, October 9, our boys soccer team begins play in the MHSAA district tournament. The Comets take their #3 seed and 11-6-1 record and play Leslie at home at 5:00. Per MHSAA, no passes will be allowed and the cost will be $5. Because we are the host for the first round game, we can accept cash or use our Hudl digital ticketing to pay for entrance.

Last varsity football game at Jonesville Football Stadium

Friday, October 17, marks the end of an era for Jonesville football. The Comets will play their last varsity regular season game on the our current field against Vandercook Lake. The current field is close to 75 years old.

It will be Senior night for our band, cross country teams, sideline cheer team and football team with those introductions taking place before the game. At halftime, the band will play their halftime show. Following that, we will have the Patricia Krohn Memorial Award presentation. After that presentation, we will honor longtime varsity football coach Greg Morrison on his induction into the Michigan Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame this past summer. We are asking anyone who played or coached with Coach Morrison to join him and his family on the field for the presentation.

Athletic Department information for fall sports:

Physicals: Per MHSAA guidelines, any student entering grades 6-12 this fall that is interested in playing a school sport in the fall, winter, or spring must have a physical on file in the athletic office before any try out or practice can occur. The physical must be dated on or after April 15, 2025. The Jonesville Health Care Walk-In Clinic can do the physicals for $20. Any Karim Health & Wellness Clinic can do physicals for $35. Both locations will have the physical examination forms on site. The physical examination form must be completely filled out on both sides before the athletic department can accept it as official. The physical examination form must be signed by the M.D., D.O., Physician’s Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner. You can drop off your completed physicals to the High School office or give it to your coach.

Fall Sports Pre-season meeting for all Jonesville Middle School and Jonesville High School students interested in playing a fall sport: On August 4 at 7:00pm in the high school gym there will be a meeting for all athletes and their parents/guardians. The meeting will take less than an hour. The meeting will start out with new updates to the athletic handbook and certain points of emphasis. The athletic handbook will need to be signed by the student athlete and a parent/guardian by the end of the first week of practice. The athletic trainer will be next as he discusses the protocols and procedures that need to be followed. We will finish up with each athlete attending a sport specific meeting with the coaching staff of that sport to go over program expectations.

There are or will be times throughout the summer where each program will be offering opportunities for conditioning or skill work. These are not mandatory but will give students the opportunity to work with members of the coaching staff as each program transitions into their season. Contact the coaches below for more information.
